Welcome to the official web site of the East Isles Residents Association
East Isles is a vibrant urban, historic neighborhood that enjoys the best of the commercial city, and the peaceful escape of tree-lined streets and parks. Over 50 shops and restaurants line the southern and eastern borders in the Uptown area, while the serene Lake of the Isles is the border to the west.
The neighborhood’s name reflects the small islands in the lake and it is one of the most popular recreational destinations in the Twin Cities.
In the summer months it is lovely to walk, rollerblade or bike the lake, or the Midtown Greenway, which runs through the southern part of the neighborhood and connects with the Mississippi River on the east. Canoes can be rented on Lake Calhoun and a lagoon allows you access to Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake. Each August, the Uptown Art Fair attracts over 375,000 art lovers and is the #8 ranked art fair in the United States.
In the winter, skaters enjoy the lake’s ice rinks and groomed cross country ski trails. The finish line for the City of Lake Loppet ski race is located in East Isles. There is a warming house maintained for ice skating and hockey on Lake of the Isles during the skating season.
The East Isles Resident’s Association goals are to support and nurture the East Isles neighborhood. We invite you to explore our website and if you are a resident consider becoming a donating member of EIRA.
