Community Notice – NRP Funding Reallocation Proposal

The East Isles Resident Association (EIRA) is seeking community input to move the income generated from their Phase II NRP Residential Affordable Housing Loan program to their NRP account for Public Space Improvements. The EIRA Board will hear the plan modification at their June 11 Board of Directors meeting. The housing income came from loans the EIRA made to non profits for the purpose of creating affordable housing in the City of Minneapolis.
By moving these funds to the EIRA NRP Public Space Improvements account the plan modification will allow EIRA to support projects in the neighborhood that enhance the quality of life in Minneapolis.  Past funds have been used to refresh the Lake of the Isles Warming House, support the beautification of The Mall, new park benches, The Good Chair Project, outdoor public chess tables for The Mall (pending approval by the Park Board), and the removal and clean up of invasive species along the East side of Lake of the Isles.  Housing Income funds have also supported the East Isles Farmers Market.  One major project under consideration for support currently is a shade structure in Levin Park.
