Holiday Pkwy Closures July 3–5
From the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB):
Over the July 4 holiday, MPRB will close segments of West River Parkway, Main Street SE, and East and West Bde Maka Ska parkways to vehicles; the Stone Arch Bridge will also close to pedestrians and bicycles. Closed parkway segments stay open to people walking and biking, unless otherwise noted.

Main Street SE (E Hennepin Ave to 6th Ave SE): Closed to vehicles Saturday, July 4, 3 p.m. through Sunday, July 5, 6 a.m.
Stone Arch Bridge: Closed to pedestrians and bicycles from Saturday, July 4 from 8 a.m. to Sunday, July 5 at 2 a.m.

East Bde Maka Ska Parkway (W 36th St to Lake St): Closed to vehicles Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. Open to bikes and pedestrians.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will limit vehicle access to some parkway segments over the Independence Day holiday. The closed segments will remain open to bicyclists and pedestrians, except where otherwise noted. These closures help manage the large crowds that gather near the Central Riverfront and Bde Maka Ska during the July 4 holiday and keep people on foot and bike safe.
As in previous Red, White and Boom! years, West River Parkway will close to vehicles from 4th Avenue North to 11th Avenue South beginning mid-morning July 4 and reopen the morning of July 5; the segment from 11th Avenue South to Portland Avenue South closes at about 3 p.m. July 4. Main Street SE will close to vehicles from Hennepin Avenue to 6th Avenue SE, and the Stone Arch Bridge will close to pedestrians and bicycles. The Boom Island Park parking lot will be open only for vehicles with a disability parking certificate.
West Bde Maka Ska Parkway will close to vehicles from Richfield Road to Xerxes Avenue South, and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway will close from West 36th Street to Lake Street. These closures take effect July 3 and reopen July 5. The Linden Hills, East Bde Maka Ska, and West Bde Maka Ska neighborhood associations have previously expressed support for closing these parkway segments over the holiday.
Closing these segments helps safeguard the pedestrians and bicyclists who visit these popular July 4 destinations.
