Public comment period now open for Draft 2026 Transportation Unified Planning Work Program

The Metropolitan Council is receiving public comment on the Draft 2026 Transportation Unified Planning Work Program. The program documents the proposed transportation-related planning activities in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area for the upcoming year.

The Unified Planning Work Program

  • Promotes a unified approach to regional transportation planning to achieve the region's goals and objectives

  • Documents transportation planning spending in the upcoming year, including the approximately $5.9 million in federal transportation planning funds

  • Describes the work that will be undertaken to begin implementing the Met Council's 2050 Regional Development Guide and the 2050 Transportation Policy Plan

  • Serves as the Metropolitan Council's application for US Department of Transportation planning funds

To achieve a transportation planning process that best reflects the values of the region, we are asking for your feedback on the draft program and transportation studies. The Met Council plans to consider final adoption of the Draft 2026 Transportation Unified Planning Work Program on Sept. 24, after review and recommendation by the Transportation Advisory Board on Aug. 20 and the Met Council Transportation Committee on Sept. 8.
