The Future of Minneapolis

From the Theater of Public Policy:

Less than halfway through 2026, Minneapolis has already had a whirlwind year — and the struggles seem far from over.

We’re bringing two city leaders onstage for a very special edition of The Theater of Public Policy to talk about how they keep things running during a federal occupation, where the City Council and the Mayor’s Office intersect on the issues, and what the future holds for Minneapolis. Plus, we’ll finally answer the question on everyone’s minds: Why does it take so long to get from Uptown to Northeast?

This live show will feature a dynamic onstage conversation with Mayor Jacob Frey and City Council President Elliott Payne, moderated by Danger Boat’s own Tane Danger. Afterwards, we’ll bring up some of the funniest folks in the Twin Cities to shine a new light on the conversation through the art of improvised comedy.

Civic engagement has never been so fun!

Rebel Loon of MN Keep on Shining

From Celtic Junction Arts Center:

This mutual aid concert is your chance to come together with some of the Twin Cities’ best bluegrass and country musicians—and help raise money for immigrant neighbors still struggling in the aftermath of recent events:

The heartbreak we feel during this time in our state’s history is immense and will be lasting. And, as lovers of bluegrass and country music, we don’t shy away from heartbreak. We’re inspired by ordinary Minnesotans coming together in a million creative ways to speak up for peace, justice, and the rule of law. To sing, laugh, cry, show we care, and offer tangible support to those in need.

Many of our immigrant neighbors are facing eviction, and we want to make sure they’re housed and cared for until they can get back on their feet. All proceeds from this event will go to the Indigenous Roots’ MniSota Community Action Network and Zion Community Commons/Open Market MN.

You’ll want to bring cash to spend in the lobby at our community-led resistance art marketplace where you’ll find upcycled screen printed clothes, posters, stickers, buttons, and more! There will be a food truck, as well as beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages available.

Youth 18 years and under receive free admission at the door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you can’t afford a ticket, reach out to Ivy at ivyandbean@proton.me and we’ll make sure you can join us.

The Reasonable Doubts

From The Reasonable Doubts:

A benefit concert for Legal Aid. The Reasonable Doubts began as a way to bring people together and relieve stress, “because music and art are so good for people.” The name is a nod to the legal standard of proof in criminal cases because most shows are to entertain people in the legal profession and support free legal services for those who cannot afford an attorney. The band plays covers ranging from AC/DC to Elvis to Beyoncé. The only rule at a Reasonable Doubts show is that you get up and dance.

Sound Bath Workshops

Sound Bath Workshops

From Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO):

Join us for a guided sound bath experience that invites you to connect with the mind and the river, beginning with a pause that invites stillness and listening. The human body is made of nearly 60% water, mirroring the river’s own flowing nature. In this session, you’ll be guided into stillness, turning your attention inward to notice subtle movement, breath, and rhythm.

The river’s flow creates sound as water meets rock. The crystal singing bowls, formed from earth, stone, and crystal, carry these same elemental origins. As their tones fill the space, gentle vibrations move through the body, bringing inner and outer waters into into confluence, resonating through the body. In this shared sound and stillness, we return to a natural rhythm, remembering a sense of presence that has always been there.

This immersive workshop offers a moment of rest, reflection, and sensory connection that encourages you to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with both yourself and the river.

From Monarca:

Every family deserves safety, dignity, and the peace of going to work or school without fear. Yet right now, enforcement and intimidation tactics are being used to divide our communities. We Demand Accountability!

From Twin Cities Coalition for Justice:

We Demand Accountability! From ICE to MPD, community control can help us hold state agents accountable for harming our communities. It is more clear than ever that the system is set up to benefit ICE/MPD at the expense of the people. Come for a discussion about the need for police accountability, the inadequacies of our current system and the promise of community control to bring about real change.

International Women’s Day

From the Twin Cities DSA:

Join us for a Celebration of Women in Resistance! We will illustrate the importance of international women’s history and how women have always understood internationalism, socialism, and anti-imperialist resistance as intertwined. There will be a few guest speakers who are based in action. They will highlight the exceptional work of contemporary feminist grassroots organizers, demonstrating the enduring relationship between feminism, and the international class struggle. In our current context here in Minnesota, women and femmes are on the frontlines of the resistance against ICE and protecting our immigrant communities. The intent of this event is to respond to the liberal discourses that make feminism just about identity recognition, and women participating in capitalism. We hope as socialists we can remind people that the day was led by those in struggle that led to the 1917 Revolution. More importantly— highlighting how women have always played a central role in fighting against fascism, imperialism and colonization.
